THE champion of Nuneaton’s top-rated street market is celebrating being chosen for his own award.

Alan Ottey, who has collected two national titles in the past two years for the twice-weekly attraction, has now been recognised by the National Association of British Market Authorities “for outstanding service over the past 12 months”.

He said: “It is such a surprise and honour to win this award.

“I wasn’t expecting it as it usually given to MPs and other high profile personnel but it is a real honour for me and for everyone involved in the markets in the borough.”

Council cabinet member Julie Jackson said the award was testament to Alan’s dedication.
