Facilities

Astley Church was built in 1343 by Sir Thomas Astley as a colliegiate church where monks and priests would sing for the souls of his family. The church now stands one fifth of its former size and and is the village church in use today.

It holds inside many historic treasures which are a tribute to the history of this church and the people associated with the history of Astley over the centuries. These include three Queens of England, Grey family (Lady Jane Grey) and the writer George Eliot.

Inside the church you can see the misericords from the original collegiate building, alabaster figures of the Grey family and in the Nave (previously the original Chancel) still has post reformation wall paintings on view.
