Atherstone Country Trail
Atherstone is a small market town in northern Warwickshire and situated on the Roman Watling Street (better known today as the A5).
Wooded hills to the west of the town rise gently towards the ancient Forest of Arden and offer spectactular views of Leicestershire and beyond.
The Atherstone Country Trail explores the rich topography, from the ancient packhorse route over the rocky terrain of the outwoods, through old woodland and along the 18th century Coventry Canal.
Rich in flora and fauna, this peaceful walk offers a variety of delights and the chance to get away from the bustle of modern life.
The town of Atherstone will provide the tied walker with cafes, shops, library and tourism information point.
The town is also noted for its free parking, a rarity in this day and age.
