Sporty trips in Northern Warwickshire

Cycling

Road racers can follow the route of the Ovo Womens Cycle Tour by downloading the map from their website. If off road is more your thing try the MTB trails at Pooley Country Park.  Or easy trails and bike hire at Kingsbury Water Park.

Golf

The Belfry at Wishaw has hosted more Ryder Cup matches than any other venue in the world.  3 golf courses to choose from. Marriot Forest of Arden at Maxstoke has 2 championship courses.

Adventurous activities

Garlands Leisure offers serious fun doing laser clay pigeon shooting, archery, quad biking and more.

Cliff Lakes for wakeboarding, waterskiing, open water swimming, obstacle courses and much more

For the more combative NPF Bassetts Pole has 16 activities available from paintball, laser combat to the UK’s largest inflatable assault course.

Only the bravest should try the Atherstone Ball Game, held every Shrove Tuesday for over 800 years.  There is only one rule ….do not kill anyone.  There are no other rules.  Try it if you dare!

Sailing is the the done thing at Shustoke Reservoir’s active sailing club.

Powerboat racing and jet skiis are available at Kingsbury Water Park.

Walking

The North Arden Heritage Trail has 12 downloadable walks to suit all tastes giving insights into fascinating local history.

Or the area’s 3 country parks have miles of paths, look out for them at Kingsbury Water Park, Hartshill Hayes and Pooley Country Park.

Wildlife and sailing life can be spotted while walking around Shustoke Reservoir.

Fishing

Fisheries abound across the area with public fishing at Kingsbury Water Park or on the canals with a permit.
